A west façade gets the strongest afternoon sun, so the goal is to block heat without losing light. The most effective options are solar-control glass (reflective or tinted), low-emissivity Low-E glass and, for the best result, double glazing that combines Low-E with an air cavity.

The final choice depends on how the space is used, the glass area and the look of the project. In the technical proposal we recommend the specific combination for your façade.

Double glazing, or insulated glass, is two panes separated by an air or gas cavity, factory-sealed. That cavity slows the transfer of heat and noise.

It's worth it in extreme climates like Chihuahua and El Paso, in air-conditioned or heated spaces, on very sunny façades and in bedrooms or offices next to noisy streets.

• Sandblasted: the glass is treated with pressurized sand and becomes translucent. It allows designs, stripes or logos.
• Pavia: factory-textured glass that blurs the view. A practical, affordable option for bathrooms and windows.
• Satin (acid-etched): a uniform matte finish, smooth to the touch, that shows less dirt and is easy to clean.

As a general reference:

• 6 mm: windows and light shower enclosures.
• 9 and 10 mm: shower enclosures, screens and interior doors.
• 12 mm: entrance doors, façades with fittings and office partitions.
• 19 mm: large openings and structural glass.
• Laminated: railings, skylights and roofs, in the thickness the engineering calls for.

The final thickness depends on each panel's size, the wind load and the use. We calculate it in the technical proposal.

We handle every type of glass: clear, solar-tint, Tintex, silver, blue and bronze reflective, solar control, Low-E, laminated, curved, textured and mirrors in several tones. If your project calls for a particular spec, we source it and process it.

• American: a lighter profile, in sliding and single-hung. Fast installation and good value, ideal for production housing.
• European: a sturdier multi-chamber profile, in casement and tilt-and-turn. It offers maximum thermal and acoustic insulation and the best seal.

We fabricate both lines and recommend the right one for your project and budget.

• Sliding: the sashes slide on tracks. It takes no space when opening.
• Casement: opens like a door, inward or outward. It seals better than a slider.
• Tilt and turn: opens like a casement or tilts in from the top for secure ventilation.
• Awning: opens outward from the bottom. Useful in bathrooms and high windows.
• Single-hung: the sash moves up and down vertically.
• Fixed: doesn't open. Ideal for big views and floor-to-ceiling openings.

A lot. A well-sealed window with double glazing reduces heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter, so the air conditioning or heating works less. The result depends on orientation, window area and the system chosen, so we evaluate it project by project.

Very little. Periodic cleaning of profiles and tracks with water and mild soap, and a check of gaskets and hardware once a year. PVC doesn't need painting and doesn't rust, and well-finished aluminum keeps its color for many years.

Ideally from the design stage, because openings, systems and specs can still be adjusted at no extra cost. We also join during rough construction or the build itself; in that case we measure on site before fabricating.

It depends on the volume, the systems and the construction stages. The technical proposal includes a written delivery schedule, coordinated with your project calendar.
